They perform on two levels. The cork lid serves as a fruit bowl, while the ceramic base offers a space for keeping onions, potatoes and other root vegetables fresh and out of the light. Cork contains suberin, which has antifungal properties, doesnβt absorb moisture, and repels fruit flies. French grandmothers have been known to toss a handful of wine corks into their fruit bowls for this very reason.

| Care | For the ceramic bowl: Dishwasher safe but we recommend washing by hand For stubborn residue, soak in hot water and white vinegar. For the lid: The cork material is food-safe and will βageβ well over time. It can be cleaned with a damp sponge, if needed, but should not be soaked in water Whilst cork has the ability to βbreathe/absorbβ some excess humidity from stored goods (and to release it subsequently), it is recommended to check for bruised fruits regularly to avoid excessive liquid leaking from ageing items. It also pays to avoid piling up heavier fruits on top of soft (skinned) fruits. |
